Novel Description:

He'll do anything to win her heart. She'll do anything to keep him away.

Country star Cole Grayson is in town, and Kylie Andrews is less than thrilled. As if months of changing the radio station and tearing down his posters werent bad enough, now she has to deal with a town of fans swarming toward the man who deceived her the year before. But when Kylies eyes meet Coles again, she cant deny the electric chemistry that drew her to him the first time around.

Cole Grayson is on a mission. Ever since Kylie left him, he hasnt been able to forget her sweet country smile. After writing a song just for her, he sets off for her hometown to prove hes not the player she thinks he is. But as much as Cole cant forget her, Kylie wonders if she can forgive him.

Taming the Country Star is a great quick read. What I love about all of Margo Bond Collins' works is that her writing is crisp, her descriptions are always vivid without being overly-flowery, and in this story, her romance is hot. I really hate romance books that lack plot. Something more needs to happen than two people thinking about how hot they are for each other. A thinking reader needs more than that and Margo Bond Collins' work delivers.

In the story, we meet Kylie, a sweet girl with a broken hear who just happened to have a fling with country star Cole Grayson-without knowing who he was. Due to some unfortunate events in her past, she has no interest in falling under the limelight again. Seemingly content with her life running her shop, Cowbelles, in the Texas Stockyards, Kylie tries to put Cole out of her mind...hard to do when he has a concert scheduled in her town.

A chase ensures as this heroine fights her desire to be with Cole while Cole does everything to convince Kylie that it will all work out.

This short romance, which recently won Best Short Romance Novel of 2014, is a must-read for a wee 99 pennies!

Review: Hardcore by Staci Hart

I'm a fan of Staci Hart's novels, so when she released her first erotica serial this week, I was ready to dive in! I love Staci's characters, they are always raw and gritty. The characters in Hardcore are no exception.

Hardcore opens with us following Cory, the antihero, who is a thief with a dark past. She is fleeing the scene of the crime, scrambling up the side of buildings as she is pursued by a group of what seemed, at the time, like parkouring gang members. I don't have much experience with parkour save this scene from The Office:

Needless to say, Staci's novel has completely erased my Michael Scott preconceptions as I saw Cory leaping Trinity-style from rooftop to rooftop pursued by someone who turns out to be the hottest guy in the city.

Of course, next we need to cue the sexy! Hart's description of the sex scenes were hot and vivid. She invites us into a gritty and enjoyable world.

What I really loved about Hardcore was the plot interwoven with all the sexiness. At the heart of this erotic serial is the tale of a girl turned thief trying to help save her sister from her own fate. Cory is an interesting, mouthy, bisexual, rugged, and fun character. I loved her. Hart's new series is "thinking girl's erotica": lots of hot scenes but a fun, and well-described and well-written, story to boot. It's so worth the 99 pennies!
